Content
The course examines selected areas of law, such as property law or contract law, and explores how legal rules affect individual behavior, the behavior of firms, resource allocation, and the distribution of economic payoffs, as well as whether these legal rules are consistent with the objective of achieving socially optimal outcomes.
Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to introduce students to a framework of institutions, such as formal laws, contracts, and informal norms and conventions, within which all economic activity takes place. The goal is to learn to examine legal questions from an economics viewpoint, by studying economic incentives and using game theory.
