How to enroll in the courses?
According to the Helsinki GSE teaching cooperation agreement Bachelor's, Master’s, and PhD students in economics (including YET, AGERE and AGFOREE students and exchange students) at Helsinki Graduate School of Economics partnering universities – Aalto University, the University of Helsinki and the Hanken School of Economics – are allowed to take courses in economics at the three universities mentioned before. Also PhD students in economics at foreign universities and at the FDPE universities: University of Turku, University of Jyväskylä, University of Oulu, University of Tampere, University of Vaasa, and Åbo Akademi University can take the courses suitable for PhD students. It is also possible for Master’s and PhD students at the Helsinki GSE partnering universities majoring in other disciplines than economics to enroll in these courses.
Deadlines for applying Helsinki GSE study rights for period 4 courses
- at AU: February 19, 2023
- Period 4 begins on February 27, 2023
- at UH: March 5, 2023
- Period 4 begins on March 13, 2023
- at Hanken: March 5, 2023
- Period 4 begins on March 20, 2023
If you miss the deadline and/or the course you are willing to take has already started, you can start the course by attending the lectures, but please contact Helsinki GSE’s coordinator Jenni Rytkönen (firstname.lastname@aalto.fi) asap.
Please note that all students must meet the course prerequisites. The course prerequisites are announced on the course Sisu page. The study right/access to the course may be denied if you do not meet the prerequisites or if the number of participants is exceeded.
Please note you are advised to apply for the study rights well in advance before the start of the teaching period because it takes time to process the application. Study right does not come into effect automatically after filling in the form. No study rights will be granted in July.

Instructions for Aalto University students

You can enroll in the course normally in Aalto's Sisu
If you are not majoring in economics or if you can’t find the course in your study structure, please enter the course as an optional course in your primary study plan in Sisu, so that you can proceed to register for the course. Please check beforehand if the course credit can be counted toward your degree.

The data asked in the application form is required by the host university in order to create study rights, to register course credits in the university’s data base, to transfer the credits to your home university, and also to communicate with you on these matters.
