In this course the students will engage and become familiar with classical and more recent research in economics of nonrenewable resources (e.g. minerals, oil), renewable resources (e.g. forestry, fisheries), and also biodiversity. A particular focus will be given to the dynamic aspects of the optimal use of natural resources and of environmental and resource policies.

At the end of this course the students will be able to

  • understand both the classical and more recent research in resource economics,
  • formulate and analyze models in resource economics at the advanced level, and
  • critically evaluate research papers and develop original research ideas related to the course topics.
