Content
How should organisations screen job applicants? Who should bear the cost of investing in new skills? And how should governments regulate public transportation companies? This course introduces economics of organisation and information at the intermediate level. The approach is both positive and normative. On the one hand, economic models are used to address positive questions about the rationale behind current business practices and government policies. On the other hand, understanding the trade-offs involved also allows to answer normative questions, such as on how incentives can be shaped to improve outcomes.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, you will be able to:
- discuss information-related trade-offs in business and economics
- explain the contractual and organisational tools available to address these trade-offs
- work with basic models of asymmetric information and organisational economics
