Research seminars

Each research group organizes and run a seminar series in its own research field. More information on the field seminars can be found on the each research group pages:

In addition to the field seminars, there are two seminar series, colloquium and lunch seminar, that covers all the economics fields and are not organized by the research groups. Helsinki GSE also lists VATT seminars on its website due to the close cooperation between the organizations. All the seminars are listed on the Events page.

Colloquium is the departmental economics seminar of the Helsinki GSE. It brings together researchers and graduate students from all fields of economics. The guest speakers are highly distinguished economics researchers from around the world.

Colloquium organizers include one faculty member from each of the three member universities. They are currently Niku Määttänen (University of Helsinki), Marko Terviö (Aalto University), and Jiekai Zhang (Hanken School of Economics). Each colloquium speaker has a host faculty member listed in the event calendar.

Lunch seminar's objective is to provide a friendly and informal atmosphere in which ongoing research carried out at the Helsinki GSE can be presented and discussed. It is open to all students and faculty members. The seminar is primarily devoted to presentations by PhD students closer to graduation and faculty, but can also accommodate presentations by early stage PhD students.
