On May 29th, M.Soc.Sc Julia Salmi will defend her doctoral thesis “Essays on Information Dynamics”. Salmi studies the timing of information generation and its role in strategic decisions. Her work focuses on how uncertainty resolves in markets and related settings where market participant’s decisions govern the revelation of uncertainty.
Salmi’s work contributes to the literature on microeconomic theory by developing novel mathematical models and techniques to generate novel insights about the role of information generation in markets. Her dissertation shows that when market participants influence how information arrives gradually over time many classic insights no longer hold.
After her defence, Salmi will join the faculty of the University of Copenhagen, a leading European institution, as an assistant professor, following a one year post-doc at University College London.
