Overview
Opintojaksolla käsitellään rahoitusmarkkinoiden rakennetta ja merkitystä, erityisesti velkakirja- ja osakemarkkinoiden toimintaa, korkojen määräytymistä ja riskien roolia sekä osakkeiden hinnoittelua teoreettisesti ja empiirisesti. Epätäydellisen informaation roolia rahoitusmarkkinarakenteiden muotoutumisessa tarkastellaan, kuten myös pankkien toimintaa ja roolia rahoituksen välittämisessä. Myös finanssikriisien mekanismeja, syitä ja seurauksia käydään läpi.

Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija ymmärtää rahoitusmarkkinoiden ja pankkien toimintaa ja rahoitusjärjestelmän merkitystä ja rakennetta. Hänellä on käsitys osake- ja velkamarkkinoiden toiminnasta, korkojen ja osakkeiden hintojen määräytymisestä. Hän ymmärtää myös epätäydellisen informaation roolin rahoitusmarkkinarakenteiden muotoutumisessa ja on perehtynyt finanssikriisien mekanismeihin.
